Douglas Report 10 Jun 2005 19:59

Douglas JW Smith (10/06/05) Trying to find relations of my late father, Benjamin William Smith, born 19th November 1904 at 36 Sixth Avenue, Enfield, Middx., UD. He was the youngest of five children born to Joseph and Ada Smith. The eldest was Joseph born 1892, next was Ada born 1894, then Jessie born 1899, and Nellie born 1901. Due to the death of Joseph snr. in 1904, all but Joseph was put into the care of Dr Barnardo's. My father was fostered to a family in Norfolk until he reached the age of fourteen, when he was recalled by Barnardo's and had to enter the boys service of the Royal Navy. The three girls, I believe, were put into service at the same age and were possibly sent to Canada.
