Hello all, before I do real damage and bang my head against the wall again!! Can some kind soul give me a helping hand or just point me in the right direction.

My GGGrandfather, Frederick Harris, son of Frederick Harris, I believe was born c.1880. His father F Harris Snr died in I presume South Africa and was in the Cape Mounted Police (Detail from Fred Jnr Marr. Cert,) Now the confusion sets in;

Fred Snr; I thought he was the F W Harris who died in the Boer War Sept 1900, but he turns out to be an Englishman who had a family in SA and various children, although he was on leave in England during the period 1880-1882 so maybe he was my Fred father!! Who knows what people got up to... Now Frederick Jnr, is another mystery I know he died in 1946 in Enfield, I have his Death Cert. I know he married Mary Chapman in 1911 and they had 6 children, three before the marriage and three after. BUT not a sausage about his birth. Obviously there is more than one Frederick Harris form around that date, so it's all trial and error until I get him. But I hoped that maybe someone is having similar problems and we could change our information. To make it even funnier Fred Jnr had a son Frederick too!! and I know little of him as my Nan tells me they lost touch over an occurence with Fred's wife!! My nan is now 93 and doesn't remeber much about him and the only surviving brother can't remember much either! I know he married Hilda Maisie Houghton and they had 4 children.
Frederick Jnr, as I said before married Mary Chapman, she was from St Lukes Islington, and they had 6 children, Frederick, Maud, Ivy, Henry, John and Hedlie (which is another SA clue, as it's a common name there) Hedlie is the only survivor form that marriage.
Well as I say I will continue to bang my head, unless someone takes pity on me soon.
Good luck to everyone in your research, I sympathise entirely!!!
Any help gratefully accepted!!
Lea.

PS Why couldn't they be like my paternal family and be called Whippy!
