SMITH- DURHAM AREAS. ok long shot!!! Im trying to peice together my g'grandads family. He was BERTIE SMITH, born 11 oct 1899, HOUGHTON LE SPRING area. his father HENRY SMITH, mother ISABELLA COCKBURN, both durham area. isabella already had a son who wasn't my great great grandads before they were married, and together they had lots of children possibley upto 17. I know some names, although im not sure of orders...... however eldest GEORGE (not sure if this is smith or not) youngest, BERTIE (my great grandad) TED, AGNUS (aggy), HARRY, ANNIE, THOMAS. i have no idea of the birth dates or the rest of his brother and sisters names, my grandad can't remember them all with there being so many, and as my great grandad was the youngest of many and then my grandad was the youngest again he finds it hard to remember the older ones. My grandad does recall, BERTIE and TED having a garage and taxi business together, and thinks ted was about 2 years older than bert. I have info on my great grandad downover if it helps piece anything together. My great grandad married Alice Atkinson and had 4 children, dorothy, gladys, Bert, Alan. If anyone can help me please please get in touch, we need all the help we can get us smiths!!!!!!!! |
