Hi everybody I am needing some help with my family tree. I am hoping to find some more information on other members of my family tree. My grandfathers name was Andrew Hunter Smith and was born in Glasgow 1923. He had one brother Alfred and two sisters Jean and Agnes. Andrew and my grandmother married in 1944 and my mother was born in 1945. My gran and grandfather moved to Barnsley in 1954 when my mother was 9 yrs old. My grandfather was working in the pit in Barnsley and a few years later my grandparents split up, she moved back to Scotland and my mother followed on a couple of years later. We later found out that Andrew died in 1972 aged only 49, he was cremated in Barnsley. We are not sure if he lived on his own or if he was living with someone else. If anybody out there has any info it would be gratefully appreciated. Andrews brother Alfred married Isabel and moved to East Kilbride, also Jean married William Mcaulay and also moved to East Kilbride. Agnes married John Dawson and lived in Morningside St in Carntyne Glasgow, they had son called Ian whom my mother has not heard from in years and not very sure if any of her aunts or uncle is still living. Please contact me at [email protected] if anybody has any info. Kind regards Caroline |
