Unusual Christian names: WAISTEL and HODGSON ANY INFORMATION ABOUT ANY WAISTEL COOPERS AND/OR HODGSON COOPER FROM NORTH SHIELDS AND HIS ANCESTORS IS SOUGHT. I expect the Christian names were originally surnames which a daughter gave to a son, which was a widespread practice. Hodgson Cooper was born in North Shields in c1807 he moved to Middleham, Yorkshire to work as a stable groom where he met and married Elizabeth Mills. Their son Waistel Cooper was born in the stables 25/01/1855. The family moved to Ayr, Scotland. Several Waistels and Hodgsons have subsequently been recorded from Ayr. I have been searching for 2 years now. Any clue, tip , or help would ease my frustration. |
