I am looking for any descenants - probably in Australia - of William King and Margaret Ledsham. William was born in Grasmere, Cumbria, England in 1830 and married Margaret in 1852. On the 1861 English census they have three children: William b. 1855 and Harriett b. 1857 both born in Melbourne, Australia, and Thomas b. 1860 in Grasmere. The parents and two youngest children do not appear on subsequent census returns, and I surmise they returned to Australia. William, the eldest son, remained with a family in Grasmere named Green, and in c.1878 married Sarah Eveline Horsfall. They had a daughter Jessie b. 1878. Sarah Evaline was my great grand-mother's sister, and Margaret Ledsham was my 2 x great grand mothers's sister. Hope someone can help Mary |
