Read your message and bells started to ring. My uncle talks about his 'Uncle Boswell' in S.Africa (Electric co.?) and how our family were going to join them but WWII interupted. I think your Mary M. Green may be my G Grandmother 'Tillie' (Mary Matilda Green) who married my G Grandfather William Florence. Possible? Unfortunately I have not been able to find out much about the Green's as I'm following the Florence line at the moment. My Uncle is still alive (75) and it would be good to give him some info at christmas! |

I am looking for any relatives of the Green's born in Woolwich, Kent. The info I have is James Green born c1840 in Wiltshire died c1910 married Mary Ann (maiden name unknown) born in Malta in c1842 died c1922 and they had 8 children all born in Woolwich, Kent namely Arthur H. Green born 1868, Mary M. Green born 1869, John James Green(my gr grandfather) born 24.11.1870, Eliza A. Green born 1873, Walter G. Green born 1877, Hugh Boswell Green born 1880 and died 21.07.1948 in South Africa, Florrie Green born 1882 and Willie Green born 1885(he apparently went missing during the war). John James Green married Margaret Stewart on 10.04.1896 in South Africa and they had 9 children Mary Margaret, Florence Stewart, John James(Jack), Jessie Constance, Ethel Maud, Hugh Walter(my grandfather), Arthur Leonard, Charles Edwin and Thomas Leslie who died at 11 months. Hugh Boswell Green, married Mary Jane Gater and they had a son Arthur Russell Boswell Green born 5.8.1912 and also lived in South Africa. I would like to know what happened to the other siblings of John James and Hugh Boswell Green. Any info would be much appreciated! Thank you. Briony Holloway |
