I am hoping to find some desvendants of my great uncle, who came from Kemble on the Glos/ Wilts border, but moved to Birmingham at some time between 1871 & 1891. Baptised as YOUNG Smith, he appears to have adopted the name of Thomas quite early on - he appears with his parents as Thomas Smith in 1861 & 1871. His death in 1922 was registered by his son Thomas William Smith of Chapel terrace, Saltley Road, and he appears as Young Smith on the certificate, and in Directories. He was a stoker at the gas works. I have never managed to find a marriage certificate for him, but according to the census, his wife was Selina. Their children were Alice maria (1884), Ernest Edward (1885), William (1889) thomas William (1893) and George Frederick (1895) Does anyone recognise this Smith family? |
