Trying to find McColm

You're posting has got me quite excited and my mother pretty stunned. Her Aunt Peggy (margaret) McColm was from the Stranraer area, also from a very large family. She moved down to England, somewhere in the Midlands, during the 2nd World War and was posted missing. believed dead, after a bomb raid. Her father was James Mccolm.
As far as I understand there were at least seven in the family, perhaps more. (My Mum's memory is not that great) Definate sisters are Mary (Molly), Ruby, Lena, Rhoda, Agnes(Nan, my Gran, who I am named after) and a brother, also called James McColm.
Am having difficulty tracing my Greatgrandfather, James, because he was married twice we think. Unfortunately there are very many James McColm's and there is no one old enough who remembers the wives names, especially the first one who we believe died in childbirth having my Gran. I believe Peggy (Margaret) was the youngest of this family and her mother was the 2nd wife of James McColm. My Mum is completely convinced that his 2nd wifes name was Mary McNally and she was the housekeeper after his first wife died. If that is the case I can find no trace of a marriage but i suppose it is possible and they just never got round to actually getting married. In those days it was very common for a widowed man to take up with the housekeeper employed to look after the children

I hope this info is of some use to you and please, please let me know if any of it sounds familiar to any of your family. My mother has always wondered if her Aunt Peggy died in the bomb raid or not.
