A (We think Annie) Rushton I am trying to find information on my great grandmother, A Rushton, who I am told is Annie. She lived in the Cheadle area, and was a domestic servant at the time of her daughter Fanny's birth in Dec 1901, in the Union workhouse in Cheadle. If anyone can help,. I'd greatly appreciate it. Hello Richard,

I wonder what information you have on the elusive Rushtons and whether we have a match here?
I have really struggled with this line of the family.
My gt gt grandmother was known as Dinah Rushton who was born in Hollington in 1848.Although Hollington is now in Derbyshire,at the time of her birth it was Staffordshire.According to her birth certificate she was born in Hollington although one census gives her birth as Cheadle which is very close by. She married William Middleton in 1870 at Trusley church. Her father was given as Samuel,a butcher. The only Samuel I have come across who was a butcher lived in Cheadle whom it appears lived in a workhouse in old age.Dinah appears to have been recognised as the local 'midwife'and took in 'love children' She moved to Sutton on the Hill then Mackworth.
I have a photograph of Dinah but no other photos or information about the Rushtons.
Does it tie in with what you know?
Regards
Jeanne
