Am trying to trace my Welsh heritage and could do with some help. My g.grandfather Albert Edward Davies was the youngest son of William and Sarah Davies(nee Davis or Davies). William and Sarah were married 27/12/1857 at the Parish Church, Skewen, County Glamorgan. William listed as age 26 years on marriage cert. Sarah a year younger. Both resided at Abbey Village. William a collier, as was his father David Davies. Sarah's father John Davis or Davies, a shoemaker. No info on mother's names. Children of the marriage were: Lydia b. 1858 William b. 1860 Margaret b. 1862 Thomas b. 1864 Mary Ann b. 1866 Sophora b. 1868 Albert Edward b. 1869 (my g.grandfather) Albert was born in Sebastopol, Victoria, Australia, but am unsure whether the other 6 children were born here or back in Wales before the family emigrated. If any of this matches your tree, or you can help me trace my roots, I would love to hear from you. |
