I am trying to find information about my great-grandmother MARY MARGARET WILLAMS, known as POLLY. She was born in Penlline, Glamorgan on 16/11/1871. She married WILLIAM THOMAS in Aberthin/Cowbridge area of Glamorgan and had 4 children by him: John 1894 William 1896 Kate 1898 David 1900 (my grandfather) I cannot find any trace of her before the 1891 census when, at 19, she is living at the Cowbridge Arms Inn with her widowed 'sister' Margaret Thomas (the innkeeper) but I've traced Margaret Thomas back and cannot find a Mary Margaret with this family in 1871 when she would have been about 9yrs old. It's possible she was the illegitimate daughter of someone but if so I cannot find any evidence of it. From 1904 onwards she was known as Mary Margaret RAYMOND and lived with DANIEL RAYMOND as his wife. She gave birth to 5 more children by him. She died on 24/11/1952. Anybody have her in their tree?? Thanks. |
