My greatgrandfather was listed on the 1881 census as a Mariner these are the family details which showed the family living in the dwellings called the Basin in Heybridge Essex. George Young--------------Mariner( D.O.B 1831) Cordelia H Young--wife---aged 40yrs (unable to find out maiden name to trace marraige certificate for George and Cordelia) Ella Young---daughter---aged 15yrs Bertha Young---daughter---aged 13 yrs Herbert Goodwin Young---son (my grandfather)---aged10yrs Stanley Young---son---aged7yrs Sydney Young---son---aged 5yrs Arthur Young---son---aged 1yr the family then appeared on the 1891 cencus in the Middlesbrough area where my greatgrandfather was still shown as a Mariner. my grandfather Herbert Goodwin went onto marry Susannah Mahala Wright from Norfolk. Ii would like to hear from anyone who is tracing the same family tree. Regards Sylvia Murphy.(nee Young)
