Searching for Walter Hogan Smith born circa 1910-1920 in Lanarkshire.
In WW2 he served with the Cameronians Scottish Rifles, Rifleman number..3251723 (stated on my mothers birth certificate). His nickname was Smudge. Believed to have been stationed in Steeton or Keighley area of Yorkshire in 1944.
It is rumoured that he was singing and playing accordian in a local pub at this time and there was some publicity in the press about it...yet to be found.
Had a sister, possibly Jean.
