Jenny Emily Smith formerly Jenny Emily Chaplin daugher of Alice (Byford) and James Chaplin lived at Alscot Road, Bermondsey near London. Born about 1876 eldest girl of 5 children with 4 brothers. Jenny's mother died about 1896 and her father, James Chaplin married sister in law, Emily (Byford) Hammond, a widow about 1897. They lived at Alscot Road Bermondsey, also. Emily (Byford b. 1859) married 1887 Leslie Henry Hammond (1834, born Dover, Kent) and two sons, Leslie Henry (1889) and Alfred (1892) born to the marriage. LHH senior died 1896. The children were initially cousins, but became stepsister & brothers. Emily Byford/Hammond/Chaplin died 1934 with stepson Tom Chaplin being informant on the death certificate, stating she lived at Alscot Road, Bermondsey. Jenny Emily Chaplin married Joseph George Smith, I think at Bermondsey and came to Australia in the early 1900s, and lived at Merrylands/Granville near Sydney, NSW Australia. Four children were born to marriage: Catherine 1908 Edna 1911 Joseph 1913 Hilda 1917. Thanks..Sybil F
