A marriage between John Hannah Cook(e) and Mary Ann Brooks. Is there anyone who can help me to find a marriage which I have been searching for, for a long time without any luck. Mary Ann Brooks was b. 19 Sept 1849 in Broadclyst Devon. The eldest daughter of George Brooks and Harriet Maunder. Mary Ann lived at the following addresses at census taking. 1851 Honiton Road, Broadclyst, Devon 1861 34 Cheriton Street South Cheriton Devon 1871 Lower Road, Horsington, Somerset, where she was a housemaid to the Bailward family. The next we see of Mary is that she is with John at 50 Corunna Rd Battersea, London in 1891 with 2 children Frank b. 19.06.1874 (my grandfather) and George Charles Cook b. 05.03.1876. John Hannah Cooke was born in Whitehaven Cumbria 09. May 1850 the 6th child of 14 of John Cook and Jane Queen or Quin. He moved with his family from Whitehaven to Barnes, Surrey between 1854 and 1856. They then lived at Green Farm until 1880/81. I have the birth certs. For all of the above and John’s death certificate. I also have some of their children’s birth certificates which all seem to tie up. The only thing I am unable to trace is John and Mary’s marriage cert. I am not even sure where they married. A few months ago I was fairly sure that the marriage mush have taken place in Barnes, so I went to the Richmond records office and although I found out quite a bit about the family I was still unable to trace the marriage. My next hope is that they were married in the Wandsworth / Battersea / Clapham area. Is there anyone who has access to the marriage records for this area who could check for me. ( I have already checked Ancestry with no luck). There is always the chance that they were not married, I suppose, but it is worth continuing my search until I can prove otherwise. It has been suggested to me recently ( Jan 2007) that Mary Ann may have been married previously. I doubt this as the birth certs of her two sons Frank and George would probably have mentioned this. Still searching Many thanks Brian
