***********GEORGE FREDERICK EDWARD ROBERTS************ I'm searching for leads on the ancestry of my paternal grandfather who died in 1956 & was born around the turn of last century & probably came from Blackburn. His father's name was Frederick Roberts whose trade was 'reed maker' which I think was connected to the weaving trade. My grandfather's first name was George with middle names Frederick Edward. My father (Peter Roberts) knows very little about his family & never met any Roberts'. My grandfather married May Elizabeth Laker in 1930 in the Folkestone, Kent area & they had two sons - my dad born in 1933 & his brother Dennis born in1931. I know my grandfather was in the army (Royal Armoured Corps - British Expeditionary Force) for many years & was a tank driving instructor & despatch rider during service & spent some time in India whilst enlisted. He also worked for Bobby's retail store in Folkestone for a number of years as a van driver. If anybody can give me any information on my grandfather I would be eternally grateful. Nick |
