Find Ancestors

Donna Hayes I am trying to find my dads family on both sides, his name is Harold Jones born 18.6.1944 to a Matilda maindonald Stoneman and a Harold Jones , both lived in royston area of south yorkshire . Matilda was an evacuee from Jersey and went back there after the war, she was married to a Frederick Stoneman. beacuase my dad was born out of wedlock to Harold Jones he was placed in a orphange at walton where he lived until he reached 18. my dad believes that Harold tried to get him out of the home but they wouldnt let him.Harold Jones sr was born in 1897 and died in 1962 1 year before my dad got let out of the home , so he never met his dad or his family, as the home would not tell him anything.I have been searching for info and found out that Harold Jones was born in carlton yorkshire and had a sister ethel jones and brother vincent as i have found them on 1901 census.there were more siblings i believe born later maude,cyril,bill,raymond,muruiel and vera but i dont know anything of them. their parents were William Jones and Maria Ann Jones nee Northage im not sure. lived at midland road in Royston area but both were born in Starrordshire area .William was a coal hewer. but i cant find out anything about thier parents as i am guessing of b.o.d and marriage. i would love to trace back further. my dad has got a photo of Harold in this army uniform ww1 i think and 1 sat in a pub as an old man. As for his mums side all i know is that she came from jersy and died there in 1970 i have an address of 33 belmont road, i believe she had 3 children with frederick stoneman, frderick jn, a mary or patricia. im not sure a boy called stephen lived with her when he was little boy dont know if this was her son or not. my dad did visit his mum in 1964 or 65 with my mum sheila jones nee collins. when they came back to england they recieved a letter from someone from his mums family saying to stay away and never get in touch. i believe this could have been frederick stoneman, so my dad stayed away thinking it was for the best. If any of this rings a bell with anyone i would be soooooooooooo grateful,i would love for my dad and us to finally meet some of his family. and trace his family tree as far back as i can,
