Although my maiden name is Breffitt sometimes it is distoirted to Braithwaite or indeed vice cersa. Anyone with Braithwaites around the Nottinghamshire area please get in touch. Gill

Gill,
Braffitt is the strong Yorkshire dialict pronounciation of Braithwaite in the early 1800s. You should have a male member of your parents family have a genealogy Y-DNA test and compare the results with Braithwaites. Go to FTDNA .com
