Hi Clive,
This may be a bit of a wild card but from www.leitrim-roscommon.com site - Cloonown St. Peters Athlone South Roscommon Household Gavin Michael(60) farmer/widower (possibly father to Martin)
and from Ancestry.com Enlistment details mentioning same place as father for place of birth in Ireland
Name: Martin Gavin
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1861
Age at enlistment: 53
Birth Parish: St Peters
Birth County: Roscommon
Document Year: 1914
Regimental Number: 8051
Number of Images: 11

Hi Have just seen your message from June, I have a Michael O'Brien Gavin born O,briens Bridge 22/4/1818, married FrancesO'Brien(nee Burke Brown) at Tulla Co Clare. He had two daughters Marcella Mary, and Anne Jane . Next son was William born 29/7/1820, and last son Daniel 11/10/1822.. Doesn't sound like your Gavins, but wish you luck in tracing them , records from Ireland ,unless you are on the spot, are notoriously difficult to find. Best regards. Patti.

Can anyone help me trace my ancestors from Ireland? Great, Great Grandfather-Michael Gavin born c1840 Ireland. Great Grandfather-Martin Gavin born 1858 Ireland. Grandfather-Francis Joseph Patrick Gavin born Lydford, Devon 1889. If anybody out there can help, it would be much appreciated. Clive.
