Between 1676 & today I have found 9 different spellings of the Surname in my Tree. Weatherald, Weatherall, Weatheralt, Wetherald, Wetherall, Wetherell, Wetherill, Wetherelt, & Wedrald. Other variations I have come across are Weatheral, Weatherel, Weathereld, Weatherell, Weatherelt, Weatheril, Weatherild, Weatherill, Weatherilt, Wedderall, Wedderalt, Wedderell, Wedderelt, Wedderett, Wederall, Wetheral, Wetheralt, Wetherel, Wethereld, Wetherelde, Wetheril, Wetherild, Wetherilt and Wetherld. And possibly all the Metheralls! Earlier references are: 14c Wedderhelde, and in Beowulf one of the Heathobard Warriors is called Wythergyld!
