If anyone with SMITH ancestors/relatives in the Hellingly/Chiddingly parishes of East Sussex (or more recently in Eastbourne) can connect with any of the following I’d love to hear from them. In January 1832 Trayton SMITH, son of Edward (a chairmaker) and Harriott, was baptised at Burlow Independent Chapel. In 1853 Trayton married Jane HICKMAN at Chiddingly Parish Church and subsequently lived at Gun Hill and Hamly Cottage. Trayton and Jane had 13 children, of whom 12 have been identified so far from census and other records: Trayton b. c 1854 m. 1 (unknown) m.2 Emily Baker - in Eastbourne by 1881 William Henry b. c1856 m.
