It's really good to see other Guthrie's. My name is Mark David Guthrie, son of Graham David Guthrie of Reading, England. Isn't it funny you have the same name as my dad graham? That was weird! I have also visited the village of Guthrie and wasn't allowed into the Guthrie castle as it's owned by an American who obviously didn't care about history and heritage. Now he's opened the castle for corporate and wedding functions and stuck a golf course on it. Wish all the guthrie's could get together and buy it back!!. We also owned a place fairly nearby called Geigis House. I was allowed in there by the owners and they have a lot of the original Guthrie paintings. Well worth going to see!! As far as i'm aware guthrie does come from guthrum as previously mentioned. Guthrie is the oldest or one of the oldest clans in scotland and doesn't belong to any other. All this is from the research i've been doing of course, let me know if you definately can prove otherwise. |
