The name Trend originates from Devon. It is likely to be Celtic/Saxon in origin, and means a tresspasser, it is often given to rivers which flood or tresspass onto land. Trent is a similar name. The family seems to originate in West Devon, the earliest records give a Geoffrey Trend living in Tavistock in the 13thC. The Trends could have been incomers from the Saxon east or over the river from Cornwall, hence the tresspasser (Trend) nickname.
