ROBERT JAMES LEE AND ELIZABETH LEE (nee Holland) emigrated to South Africa some time after their marriage in 1884. Looking for any living relatives of their children. Known to have lived in the Malvern/Durban area 1920 - 1950s. Were joined in 1920 by my grandmother's sister Bessie, husband Alf and children Norman and Betty. Contact now lost but have many lovely photographs sent over the years and would love to put some names to those faces. Feb 2005 Have now successfully made contact with family in South Africa and together we have managed to establish the family of Robert James Lee. His father was DAVID Lee and it is believed that Robert was a son from his second marriage. However, it is now David who appears a bit ellusive. He is believed to have been born in Glemsford, Suffolk around 1805, was a tailor and later possibly a freeman of the City of London. His second marriage was to an EMMA JAMES from Walworth but have no details of first marriage except that it is believed he had three children. David and Emma lived in the City before settling in Bexley in Kent. Anyone out there descended from David's first marriage? |
