My great great grandfather was Thomas Cooper, farmer Chatterley, Wolstanton Staffordshire. Born around 1797. He married Mary Bratt (or Brett) in 1822. In 1841 census this is the information. Thomas Cooper, 45, Farmer Mary, 40 Thomas, 15 (emigrated to Australia) Alice, 15 Hannah, 15 Isaac, 15 Samuel, 10 (my g grandfather married Eliza Kelsall) William, 10 Joseph, 8 (emigrated to Australia) Mary, 4 Jane, 2 I need to go further back and find out Thomas' parents. Samuel died in 1870/71 and Eliza re-married John Gallagher (in Pontefract) and moved to Bishop Auckland in Durham taking Mary, Joseph, Winifred and Honorah (Gallagher) with her. Joseph married Margaret Houlahan. Mary was my grandmother she married John Hutchinson, was widowed and re-married James McShane and had my father.
