MARY SMITH/WILLIAM NEWBERRY HI MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER IS ON THE 1881 CENSUS LIVING WITH HER HUSBAND WILLIAM NEWBERRY.I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT WILLIAM NEWBERRY WAS BORN IN SOMERSET.HOWEVER ON THE CENSUS FORM MARY'S BIRTHPLACE IS DOWN AS JAMAICA.MY GRANDMOTHER SAID THAT HER MOTHER MARY SMITH CAME FROM AMERICA.WE HAVE HIT A BRICK WALL ON THIS BECAUSE WE CAN'T FIND HER BIRTH IN AMERICA OR JAMAICA.THE ONLY PLACE SHE APPEARS IS ON TWO OF THE WELSH CENSUS FORMS. HER FATHER WAS WILLIAM SMITH MOTHER UNKNOWN.WE HAVE SPENT TWO YEARS SEARCHING DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT A MARY SMITH BORN ABOUT 1856 MARRIED TO A WILLIAM NEWBERRY IN WALES.SHE DIED IN 1891 AT THE BIRTH OF MY GRANDMOTHER IN WALES.MY GRAND MOTHER WAS BROUGHT UP WITH THE TENNANT FAMILY.
