is sherriff a cornish name as my dads mum spoke with a cornish accent

Hi George,

Bit late replying but this might help.There are many Sherriff's in the Worcestershire area and Lancashire. I don't think it is a particularly Cornish name but I'm led to believe it was developed from the words Shire Reeve, lord of the manor in Ireland. Hope this helps. Get back to me for more details.
