Looking for information on my step-father's family; his name was Ralph Sidney Smith, known to all as Cutty. He came from a large family, originally from Lambeth Walk, London, where his grandfather was a 'box-maker'; his own father was sent out to India as an official 'coffin maker' for the British Army. Cutty had several siblings, Maud, Walter and half brothers & sisters called Caroline, Harriet Burton. They were all born in India, my step-father in Secunderabad; his brother walter was a Railway Conductor in a town called Gaia, but came to the UK in the 1950's and settled in Harrogate. |
