Hi, I am trying to find the details of my Grandfather, Charles Walter Lindsay. it is my understanding that he was the eldest son of a Lord but was disowned. He apparently managed to get himself drummed out of the Household(?) Cavalry. Following that he joined a regiment serving in India and servied as a 'other rank' soldier for 20 yrs following which he moved to NZ. He was a remittance man. I do not know his DOB but guess 1870s. I would appreciate any help that people could give me. Thanks Mary

Hi Mary
My name is Ian Lindsay from N Ireland
I have been reserching the Lindsay's for a few years
I do not know if any connection but there was a James Lindsay in Rathfriland who would not vote with the Gentry and lost his lands.
I do not know if this may help.
Please contact if I can help
