I am looking for information on the Macking family who had changed their names to King when they married their repected spouses. James Arthur King/Macking (b.1862 Holbeck, Leeds). He married Lucy Morton (b.abt.1861) in 1882. They had 7 children, Ethel, Herbert, Gertrude, Harry, George, Harold and William. Jane Elizabeth King/Macking (b.1864 Holbeck, Leeds) Mary Ann King/Macking (1866). She married Herbert Beales (b.abt.1868 Gt Ellingham, Norfolk) in 1887. They had 3 children that I know of, Florence Elizabeth, James William and Elsie Mary. Now Mary Ann not only changed her surname but she also married as Mary Hannah King. The father of James, Jane and Mary is James Richard Macking. Why they decided to change their name is a mystery to me. Their step father's name was French and I have them living with my g-grandmother and g-grandfather on the 1881 census. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Val. Sydney, Australia.
