The name Fitz-George, I belive came from King George III. He had a child out of wed lock with a chamber maid called Hannah Lightfoot. The child was named Fitz, which means iligitimate or bastard child, and them the name of the childs father which was George. And FITZ-GEORGE was the out come. If anyone knows of any other stories of my surmanes heritage please donot hesitate to leave a message.

Hi Sonia, don't know if you're interested but there is a whole page on the Fitz-George's in Anthony Camp's website, where you'll see my name Paul Fitz-George. It would be incredibly handy if your ancestor, Hannah Lightfoot, was our missing link to the brothers George and Owen who were born Hesse Germany and Paris France respectivly. Have a look and see what you think?

Cheers,

Paul Fitz-George

Hi Paul, and welcome to the boards.
A tip - keep an eye on the dates of the threads - top right. This one is pretty old.
If you want to contact people directly just click on their name. They will be notified by genes, providing their email address is unchanged.
