Hello All, HELP NEEDED! Looking For a Donald Smith. I’m looking for a man called Donald Smith; he is my Great Grand Father. I do not have a lot of information about him but what I do know is: He was from Scotland, he was a lancer in the army during the First World War, and his records are in Edinburgh castle so he must have been in a Scottish regiment. Stationed at Morpeth in Northumberland during the war 1915 –????. My great Grand Mother Elizabeth Coulson fell pregnant with his child in 1915; Donald Smith then departed for France (I’m not sure the exact date) where he sadly died. My Granddad was born shortly after this in 02/05/1916, Tom ‘Smith’ Coulson. Supposly Donald’s family came down from Scotland in car which was really rare, and offered my Great Grand mother (Elizabeth Coulson) 100 ginnies for my Granddad, which was a lot of money at the time, she refused. On my granddads birth certificate it says Donald Smith - Gentleman Farmer. If anyone has information or if the story sounds in anyway familiar, as my info is passed on and could be slightly off. Please get in touch, anything would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you Tom Coulson
