I am pretty sure that the Edward Charles Inman you refer to is my grandfather. My father's name is Brian Edward Inman 3rd eldest son to Edward Charles Inman.

INMAN,trying to find a Samuel Charles Inman,c1870 (give or take 5 yrs.)I know he was a long time serving soldier,also think spent sometime in India,his kids were Edward ,Amielia,Elsie,Horace,Rueben,not in that order as far as I know,His one son Edward Charles Inman was born in Woolwich in 1896
