Alice Evelyn Clarke born c. 1859 near Kensington (Kenington? Oval), England. Her father was (it's believed) the manager of the local gas works - Western Gas Company or Kensal Gas Company as it was later named. The Clarke family appear to have migrated to Australia (Victoria or NSW I believe) around 1860 to 1870. Alice later married John Alexander Brown in Australia. Any info on Alice or her parents, or some way of tracking down Gas Company (staff) history would be appreciated. Alice is my great grandmother.
