I am seeking some links with Thomas Young's parents & sibling and any information up to when he joined the military. Thomas Alexander YOUNG was born 3 November 1816 (bible entry only), Elgin, Moray, Scotland. He enlisted in the 2nd Rifle Brigade (origionally the 95th foot (rifle) until the name change in 1816) No. 3160 Elgin Co. Moray, 5th November 1831, 17. Promoted to Corporal on 31st July and to Sergeant on 1st December 1836.Transferred to the 39th Foot Regiment (The Dorsets) on1st April or 5th March 1850. Discharges in Dublin 18th November 1851. He was an outpatient on the 13th January 1852 at the Chelsea Hospital). Married Elizabeth Davidson on 16 July 1852 in Elgin. Elizabeth was born on 26th May 1820 in Elgin, Moray. Elgin Old Parish Registers entry No. 41, of 16 July 1852, describe the marriage and Thomas as a labourer. . He enlisted in the pensioner guard Force 28 October 1853 and departed on-board Stag 05 February 1855 from London arriving at Fremantle on the Stag on 23rd May 1855. From 1869 to 1870 he was employed as a Ticket Of Leave Man and died in West Guilford W.A. on 27th December 1873 of bronchitis. |
