hi, ive got the name cooper in my tree and was told that it goes back to the name colmans [mustard] family, can anyone shed some light?Thanks

Hi Gayle
The name Cooper goes back many generations. There are hundreds, if not hundreds of thousands of us around
It comes from a "work related "background. A 'Cooper' was and still is, some one who makes barrels. Beer barrels, butter barrels, fish, anything which could be stored in a barrel. I guess it could even be Mustard! I don't know that we have anyone with the name in our records. I hope you have success in tracking it down.
