Taylors of Montgomery - early 1800's Can anyone give me any information about my 2xgreatgrandfather John Taylor, son of William Taylor, born around 1823 in Montgomery, Wales, or possibly Llandyssil. Came to London sometime before 1849. He lived in Limehouse and then Kensington and was a cheesemonger and grocer. Also the person I presume was his sister, Anne Crewes nee Taylor, born Llandyssil around 1837, living in Kensington in 1875, and then Marylebone and running a boarding house. Why did people leave Montgomery in the mid 1800's? Was work a problem? Anyone with a knowledge of Mongomery at that period I would like to contact. |
