I am trying to find information about the Ryces originally from Scotland, then moved down to Durham around 1860. Father was William born 1830 married to Jane. They had many children including my Gt Gt Grandad also William b 1852 married to Isabella. Their oldest daughter was Annie who married Mark Anderson. All the men worked in Paper Mills.

Hi June (or is it Mary Edge),
We may have talked before but
William 1852 is my 1st cousin, 3 times removed and Annie is my 2nd cousin, 2 generations removed !!
Yes, they all were Paper workers in and around Penecuik, Edinburgh, and I guess they came to Sunderland for more work opportunities, especially in all the new shipyards on the Wear - some Ryce's did become shipyard workers
Which one is your G G Grandfather and how does your Tree come down to yourself ?
My e-mail is [email protected] Please reply there as finding stuff on Genes is not always easy
Best regards
