Brian Davies My DAVIES family history seems to be in Camarthen (Talley and Llangeler) and Glamorgan (Dowlais,Gelligaer) Wales in the 1800's. In about 1879 my part of the family moved to Workington in Cumbria to work in the coal / Iron & steel industry. Great grandfather was Evan Davies and his father was called William Davies (born 1819). My grandfather, Edward DAVIES, born 1879 in Dowlais Glam married Ruth Brown LAWDEN in 1905 in Workington. Siblings, Edward, Jack, Peggy, Maud, Millie(Mildred), Katie, Myvanwy and my father James L . Married into that generation were DRAPER, SPROAT,GRIER, YOUNG, KAY, HARROP, BRITAIN, MARTIN and WREN. I know some moved away from Cumbria and went to Bolton, Birmingham and London in the 1930's + Where are you all now? |
