Am seeking out descendants of John Davies who was a merchant seaman (Trimmer) RMS Lusitania who went down with the ship 7th May 1915 aged 62. He is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial with the following details: john davies son of late John & Ann Davies born at (notice the at and not in) Dylynog, Denbighshire. He is on the crew list of the Lusitania as lost at sea no body found. Dylynog does not exist as a place or house name as I have researched this through the Denbighshire archives. I find it strange that such a famous event as the sinking of the Lusitania (sunk by german submarine and is purported that is the reason the americans joined in WW1 because so many US citizens lost their lives that day) was not recorded that a local man went down with the ship. I can only assume that John Davies move away from Wales and probably went to Liverpool. Would appreciate any help Lorraine |
