This is a message from Jim Westcott. E-mail [email protected] Our family have traced our ancestors back to Thomas Westcott born we think in 1745 in Devon who was a farmer. He married Sarah Hawkins on the 08/10/1765. We do know the family have strong military connections, one relative serving with Nelson at Trafalgar, whose direct decendants live in Exeter. Another relative not a Westcott recieved a VC on the Dambusters raid and some died at the Battle of Jutland. Many died during WW1. My grandfather Albert Westcott Born 1898 survived the trenches of WW1 and served in WW2 until he was discharged with severe shell shock. My father briefly served in the Coldstream Guards until he too was disabled out with a foot injury and ironically, i too was disabled out of the army at 19 following serious injuries for which i have received a 50% war pension ever since.
