Hi Angela
I'm sure someone has contacted you already about this but it's very common in Scotland for the children to take the mother's maiden name as their middle name.
My Dad was Ian Morrison MacLachlan
his mother was Margaret MacLennan Morrison

Does anyone have the name MORRISON as a middle name ? My gt. gt. grandfather was George MORRISON b in Glasgow around 1815. He had a daughter Annie and after she married in 1855 to John REYNOLDS, several of their offspring had the name MORRISON as their middle name. This applied to both boys and girls.
