Trying to access my Dad's family tree

Hello,

My Dad did a lot of work on our family tree, which is stored on this website. My Dad sadly died 6 years ago and we do not have his password for this site. I have created a profile to try to access his work so that it's not wasted. Does anyone know how I can do that? I'm currently using a free trial but I'd be willing to pay for a proper membership to have access to my dad's work. This was extremely important to him and as my mother died this year as well, I'm really feeling the need to read more about our family.

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to Genes and the boards.

I am sorry to hear of your problems following your father’s death.

You need to contact the sites owners to resolve this. For Genes email [email protected].

Good luck

If you care to tell us your father’s name, birth year and birthplace, someone will look in ‘search all member trees’ to try to find his membership number, which you may find helpful when contacting GR support

Rhoslyn can do that herself.

Go to Search, search all trees. Look for a name you know to be on the tree, when you have spotted your father in the list, click on the Find Out More button. A pm box will show up with the name and membership number

Obviously, but as she’s new, I thought it would be kind to offer the assistance - especially as no-one had suggested to her that she tried that route.

Her fathers details and hopefully his old email address should be all Genes need to know.

2344528 is the membership number - in case you can't remember what his e-mail address was

Hello,.

Thanks very much for the email address and thank you also Erika for looking up my dad's membership number. That was very kind of you! I am totally new to this site and have four small children so I appreciate any time saved in doing this :) I think I know which email he would have used so I will write and ask.

I'm looking forward to reading his work!

Rhoslyn

Don’t worry if Genes don’t get back to you quickly - they have very few people working on Genes. You can always chivvy them up in a week or two.

If your Dad used more than one email it is worth letting them know as you may have opted for the wrong one. Although the membership number will help.

I hope you get your access and see the work your Dad did on the tree.

Good luck
