THEFT AT SOUTH HARTING

... THEFT AT SOUTH HARTING. William Arthur Maxwell, 16, was charged with stealing 10 apples, the property of John Phillips, of South Harting, value 3d., Oct. 8th.—P.C. Bailey stated that through information he received he went and saw the prisoner, who admitted the theft, saying that he had eaten some, and the remainder were in an old rabbit hutch. Defendant also said that he crawled through the hedge, and gathered the apples off the trees He did not appear.—Fined 16s. 6d., including costs, or seven days’ hard labour

Not seeing anything.

9 trees on Ancestry with him in - some have him up to 1891, others not even that much. None after 1891

Try names reversed or just using the second name - like William Edgar you were also enquiring about who was Edgar on occasion
