He is in Plot 17, Row C. at Hooge Crater Cemetery, so will have a Commonwealth War Graves headstone there. There are photos of the cemetery here:-

Normally if he was to be commemorated on the War Memorial in his home town then a member of his family would have arranged it at the time (at least I think so).

I think the Commonwealth War Graves Commission would be the first place to ask.

perhaps he might be on some memorial other than Leigh/Bolton?
Did he have links to anywhere else?

Among the names on our local war memorial is that of a man who really had no connection with our village apart from the fact that he married a local girl in 1912, and lived here for two years before WW1.
He is not recorded on his home town's memorial, about 120 miles away.

Daisy remarried June 1919
He joined the fusiliers as a drummer boy so no other area Leigh and Bolton

I don’t think names were automatically put on local memorials. I think the names were put forward by friends and relatives. Which is why some names are found with no obvious connection to the place.

If the parish church at that time still exists today, they may have a plaque commemorating those from the parish who lost their lives during the war.

It was a registry office marriage, so perhaps he had no church connection:

Contact the CWGC directly and give them all his details. They will then decide if he is put on a memorial. I have dealt with them over the very same issue in the past and found them very helpful

Hi Linda ,I live near Leigh and went to school in Leigh.I have just seen your request.
There are numerous war memorials around Leigh where his name may be listed. You should look where he was living when he joined up. Look at the memorials in the small towns around Leigh such as Atherton,Tyldesley,Lowton,Hindley Green and Astley. I am a regular visitor to Ypres as I have friends who live there. If you haven't been go as it is a very interesting area and locals will make you welcome.
