Thank you for your replies folks and apologies for not making myself clear: I should have said, where did they go after 1920. They aren't found on the 1930 & 1940 US censuses. They may have gone back to Canada but I haven't yet found any further record of them.

Frederick was one of five brothers who went to Canada between 1906 and 1929. The others were John Benjamin Gosling, George Ernest Hadlow Gosling, Edgar Gosling and Leonard Harold Gosling.
George died in 1953 and John in 1970, both in Canada.

The three who seem to disappear are Frederick after 1920, and Edgar and Leonard after 1953; who are both on the 'Samaria', sailing from Southampton to Quebec on 16 July 1953, travelling with their respective wives.

Birth: GOSLING, FREDERICK JAMES [TAYLOR] GRO Reference: 1882 M Quarter in GLOUCESTER Volume 06A Page 322.
Date of birth probably 10 Jan 1882. His US Draft Registration Card gives his date of birth as 10 Jan 1884. After emigration he has consistently lopped a couple of years off his age.

Frederick emigrated to Canada. He sailed from Glasgow on 04 Dec 1909 to St John, New Brunswick on the Donaldson Line ship Athenia. He gave his age as 26 and occupation as ‘Hammerman’.

In 1917, their address is 25 South Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario. (source: FamilySearch Vermont, St. Albans Canadian Border Crossings, 1895-1954)

1917/1918 the family moved to Charleston, West Virginia. In 1918, Frederick is a Foreman in the Kanawha Manufacturing Company in Charleston.

In the 1920 US census the Gosling family are at South Charleston, Kanawha, West Virginia and Frederick is working at the US Naval Ordnance Plant in Charleston.
