OK ErikaH

Many thanks for your offer of help. One of my frustrations regarding non-response by other members concerns my ancestor James Pickford-born Stockport around 1820 as per the 1861 census. I know that several members have Stockport Pickfords in their trees including this man from Stockport and dating back to early 1700.

I think I mentioned that I can no longer access familysearch.org on my computer and as this date is pre-1837 presumably I now have to access parish records to try to trace back further? Is there any way of doing this during lockdown or of tracing back further on this line?

Regards

Howard

If they’ve changed emails since they registered, they won’t be notified.
If they’ve died since they registered, they won’t hear anything
Closed green envelopes mean unopened.
Hardly anyone who registered in the early days of this site now bothers with it.

Bear in mind that people often just add names to their trees without actually researching them

You’re better off doing your own - careful - research

Hi

I have returned to genesreunited during lockdown after a period away. I am researching a different branch of my family and I have found approx. 10 members who have useful info no doubt on people I am researching but when I have politely attempted to send them messages, nobody has replied. It is very frustrating. How does the procedure work? The messages I sent are still showing as green envelopes. Does this mean the messages have not been read because the people have not accessed the genesreunited website? Do these people not also receive e-mails advising them of messages received? Please advise.

Regards

Howard
