I am researching my brother in law's grandfather-John Edward Gibbons. I am new to genesreunited but I have now seen another member's family tree which states that John Edward Gibbons is mentioned in 209 other members trees-although many of these may not be the one I am researching. Is there some way I can find out which trees contain the one I am looking for?

A quick check shows that you're the only GR member with this man in a tree with correct birth year, although one member has the name with no birthplace, which MAY be connected, but you'd have to send a message to find out

One member seems to have him in his tree with birth year 1882, which shows a lack of research

Cheshire BMD has the marriage - as Edward was Irish, it may well have been a Roman Catholic ceremony, which would fit with the info here

I have now discovered that the father of John Edward Gibbons named Edward Gibbons was born in county Mayo Ireland in 1847 and came over to Stockport in 1852 along with his father and mother( named Anthony and Hannah in the 1871 census) and several other siblings. Is there some way of tracing these ancestors back into their Irish roots?

Thanks again for the info ErikaH Sorry to be a pain but I did have an account on familysearch.org several years ago but when I try to access it or even create a new account I just get a blank screen or an hourglass going around endlessly.
