ArgyllGran Report 3 Jul 2019 13:14

Grasping at straws - just in case he was born in Scotland - which might explain why he's not showing up on the England/Wales 1939 Register -
a couple of very long shots:

DOAK
JAMES
M
1930
564/2 307
Greenock West

DOAK
JAMES
M
1930
644/22 522
Partick

Alternatively, perhaps his birth was registered under a different name.

Nothing showing on Irish birth regs.Doak.Doakes.Doaks.

Who was named as his father on the marriage certificate.?

If it was a catholic marriage his mothers name will also be on it.

This birth but would have meant adding abt 8 years on his age based on death details.

Rambling Report 2 Jul 2019 18:34

Very much a guess, but basing it on the theory that James was born Belfast, and that his father was named James also ( which obviously he might not have been!) there are a couple of young James' of a likely age on the 1911 Irish census, Belfast/Antrim

There are 2 marriage for a James Doak. 1 between 1920-1922, and 1 between 1922-1926.

As said just a possibility.

There’s no birth for him on freebmd or ancestry

The marriage cert should name his father,if known

Why would he be in the US Malyon?

That one appears to be Walter Edward any way.

Looked on https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

"For data protection reasons, if you are using the internet to search the register, some of the records will not be available to view. You will be able to access the following records:

• birth records over 100 years old
• marriage records over 75 years old
• death records (including World War II death records) over 50 years old"

If you have father's name from marriage cert for JW you may find the marriage on there ( there are 14 Doak marriages in the 4 year period before birth, just for an idea)
